Why Zero Torque
Most putters twist. That is why your ball starts offline.
On every stroke, a conventional putter head wants to rotate around the shaft. The face opens going back and closes coming through. If your timing is a fraction out, the face is not pointing where you aimed at the moment of impact, and the ball starts on a line you did not choose.
On a short putt, a face angle error of one degree is enough to miss.
What zero torque actually changes
A zero torque putter is built so the shaft axis runs through the balance point of the head. The head has no leverage to twist around the shaft, so the face stays square to your stroke path instead of rotating through it.
Less twist means the face is pointing closer to where you aimed at impact. Your start line becomes more repeatable.
An honest note
Zero torque is not magic. It will not fix a bad read, a poor stroke path, or the wrong pace. What it does is remove one variable, and it is the variable that causes most missed short putts. If you push or pull short putts and cannot work out why, this is very often the reason.
While we are being straight with you: we have not submitted the Heron 01 for R&A or USGA testing yet. An official ruling is only issued on a production sample, and this is our first run, so there is nothing to submit until the putters are made. We plan to submit once they are. Until then, if you play in competitions run under those rules, assume it is not permitted for those rounds.
Why it usually costs so much
The technology is not expensive to manufacture. The premium brands charge three hundred to five hundred pounds because of tour budgets, retail margins, and brand markup. We build an aluminium alloy head with a CNC milled face, sell it direct, and skip all of that.
Aluminium, with a milled face
The head is aluminium alloy, and the face that meets the ball is CNC milled. Cast zinc heads are cheaper to produce and they sound and feel it. Putting is a feel game, and that is the corner we did not cut.
Built to hold your line
Balanced so the face stays square through the stroke, and weighted so the head feels stable rather than light and flighty.
Zero torque. Dead straight. A fraction of the price.
Ships from December. £99 until the founding run closes on 31 October. Cancel any time before dispatch for a full refund.
